Is Carly completely oblivious or a just a true to the core narcissist?

So I got sucked into this darn soap a few months ago when I was sick for a couple of weeks, and my TIVO recorded it ~ which I have no idea why as we did not watch soaps at the time. Anyways ~ I get it ~ she is mad at her husband for lying. But HELLO! Constantly defending Sonny ~ a man who just tried to murder a cop ~ a man whose life put her son in a coma ~ a man who married a psychopath who tried to kidnap her baby ... the list goes on and on. Even today, when she stated the Sonny shooting Dante was an accident .. LOL .. her face .. even she knew how stupid she sounded. What is it with her not only constantly defending her mafia ex ~ but purposly putting her children ~ her new baby ~ in harms way ~ and now moving in with a mobster rather than staying anywhere else. It is not ike she cannot afford it. She keeps saying that it would not best for the kids to have their father in jail ~ but YES ~ YES IT WOULD. I mean it is not like it will actually happen ~ but having their mother accept the fact that it would be best for him to be punished for his crimes ~ teaching her children morals ~ yes .. best. I mean heck, I am new to the world of G.H. so I am a newb. Maybe I am wrong. But this lady irks me more than any other character. Somebody tell me the deal with this woman!
