Halloween week gang violence?

I'm terrified to walk outside of my house. There was 6 shootings, a few of the victims innocent children; it happened a town away, last week. I found out there would be more shootings near my neighborhood of young girls, involving gang members. What should I do? My dad won't let me stay home from school. I scared.
