ROP preemies?

My son was born at 32 weeks 4lbs 4 oz. He was dischareged from the hospital on monday with a follow up appointment with the eye doctor. The eye doctor told us he has stage 2 ROP and he will monitor it in 2 weeks to follow the regression or progression. Does anyone have any experience with ROP with their baby? I am concerned because everything i read says it usually affects preemies less than 3 lbs.
