Do you believe in euthanasia for pets?

My daughter and I both have had cats we had put to sleep because they were suffering. My beloved Garfield because of old age and my daughter's cat Tiger because of a irreversible lung condition. In both cases people we know accused us of killing our pets. We thought euthanasia was best, what is your views on this?
